| Legendary Gloves |
Tonight's post is all about knowing your limits. I thought I would try something I had never attempted before: Gloves. Fingerless gloves can't be that difficult right? Well, not exactly. I found a neat glove pattern for Link's gloves. Now that I had the pattern and some brown suede I was hoping to jump right in. I usually follow the tenets of my good friend Lord Nelson:
But something (maybe Navi?) was telling me to make a test glove first. Boy, am I glad I did! I took some extra cotton fabric and traced and cut out my pattern pieces. The pattern did not signify the amount of seam allowance to account for so I chose a quarter of an inch. after sewing all of the gussets onto one side and sewing up the wrist I thought I would check for fit. Not only was the glove way too small but the fingers were unbelievably skinny. As I sat in disbelief staring at this monstrosity of a glove I tried to think of ways to save it. The more I fiddled with it the more frustrated I became. I finally put the poor thing out of its misery.
It's no big deal. I gave up on gloves for this project. That doesn't meant that I'll never try again. The thing about gloves is that they are pretty cheap to buy. I ended up finding these on Amazon:
